Our music is a mix of blues, jazz and ragtime. They are on Spotify as The Jim Burke band and are growing in popularity with their own original songs as well as a few classic covers.

Jim Burkes rise to success in his own words

I moved to Sheffield after lockdown , walked straight into a fantastic tramlines event and was instantly sold on the city. 

 I work with the band Coalhouse which consists of myself and three other songwriters who all live in different city’s so we work remotely, but after seeing the brilliant venues Sheffield has to offer , I got the itch to play live again. So I needed a band. 

I met Ian Ashworth the harmonica and mandolin player , and we instantly recognised our mutual love of early blues and jazz.  I advertised for an upright bass player , and Steven Morgui replied , again I straight away recognised what a fantastic player he was and we jammed out songs straight away. 

For a year this was the line up and we honed our live show but we knew there was something missing. 

Andrew ‘Tank’ Thompson of the Sheffield punk band King Effers saw us at a local venue and he got us , and offered to drum with us on our first meeting.

we’ve been growing our audience , having been played on BBC radio Sheffield , and a host of other local radio stations. And will release a new e.p. In the new year.
